Oyo, a hospitality unicorn startup, based out of Gurugram, has commenced operations in over 100 hotels across Japan, reported ET.

The launch has been initiated by Oyo’s Japanese arm in collaboration with SoftBank Group, in order to follow the path to financial benefits.

Oyo said that the partnership of Oyo and SoftBank has already opened hotels in more than 50 Japanese cities, which include Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

The SoftBank backed hospitality chain Oyo was started by Ritesh Agarwal in 2013. The startup was started from a single hotel to over 8500 hotels at present. It is the fastest growing network of hotels, offline and online.

Recently, a week ago, Oyo had started an online portal for travel agents called ‘SuperAgent,’ in order to enhanced the booking experience.

Till date, SoftBank has infused around $1 billion in Oyo.

Some of the significant strong players in the hospitality startup include YatraFabhotels,TreeboMakeMyTripClearTrip, and among others.
