In a bid to increase the exposure of its platform, Paytm Mall has introduced support for 10 regional languages on its platform. With this, the company is expecting to see increase in flow of customers by 30 to 40 percent.

Prior to offering the app in regional languages, the mobile application of the eCommerce platform was available in only one language — English. Amit Sinha, chief operating officer, Paytm Mall, said,

The app’s regional language interface will allow us to go deeper into tier II and tier III towns as customers will be able to shop in a language of their choice. This will in turn enable our partnered retailers to reach out to new customers.

The Android mobile application will now be available in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Oriya and Punjabi.

The company has been battling with the top players in the market — Amazon India and Flipkart, in order to grab the third position in the highly competitive eCommerce sector of India.

During the on-going festive season, Paytm Mall is expecting to grow its userbase as well as its market share significantly. Currently, the firm is riding on the back of heavy discounts to attract customers.

Paytm Mall has planned to spend around ₹1,000 crore on discounts and cashbacks during the two months of festive season, i.e. September and October.

The company has also reportedly started talks with investors to raise around ₹4,000 crore in a new funding round. While the names of the investors are not known, it is said that the company is in talks with Asia and US-based investors.
