Android-based laptop OS, PrimeOS, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from Venture Catalysts, an early-stage investment firm. Other participants in the round included Kundan Deotale, Vikas Kapoor, Yogesh Choudhary, Arun Tyagi and many more.

PrimeOS is looking to target the key verticals in ed-tech and consumer electronics. Its business model is built on licencing PrimeOS to laptop manufacturers. The company is set to sell its Primebooks, coupled with its PrimeOS to edtech firms. There is a massive market for its products in the market worth $16 billion in India alone, globally there is potentially a market worth $100 billion.

The PrimeOS team consists of some of the most talented professionals with vast experience in their fields. The four founding members of the team are all IIT alumni and have worked in leadership roles in prominent organisations. Chitranshu Mahant (CEO), former head of sales at Smartivity, Aman Verma (COO), previously worked at Paytm, Aman Gupta (CTO), previously worked at Samsung, and Advait Vaidya is the product head at PrimeOS.

Talking about the funding round, Chitranshu Mahant, Co-founder & CEO said, “The VCats team has helped us validate our vision while investing capital in our firm. Apart from fundraising, VCats has also supported the company in building the business and getting the right connections in the market. We feel privileged to have the team mentor us as we enter our next phase of growth.”

Venture Catalysts is India’s top incubator for startups founded by Anil Jain, Anuj Golecha, Apoorv Ranjan Sharma, and Gaurav Jain in 2016. It has its presence across various cities in India. Venture Catalysts takes an integrated approach which includes funding and mentoring the founders of the startups. It invests in the range of $500,000 to $1 million.

Some of the popular startups incubated by Venture Catalysts include Beardo, easyrewardz, Fynd, Inc42, Innov8, Koinex, LenDenClub, among many others.
