Art social network Skillbox raises seed funding from US-based angel investor

Gurugram-based art social network and discovery startup Skillbox has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from Sandip Ranjhan, a leading US-based angel investor.

The freshly raised funds will be used to scale and strengthen the product, along with marketing.

Skillbox was founded by Anmol Kukreja, Ravi Pardhi and Nitish Bhardwaj in 2016. The startup provides an art community platform, connecting musicians, artists, art enthusiasts, and photographers, with businesses, in order to collaborate and present their work.

It also provides a discovery platform to enable people to find and book artists based on their needs, from an array of verified artists across different fields. The artists get a platform to showcase their skills by creating appealing profiles, helping them gain visibility and promoting their work.

Commenting on the investment, Anmol Kukreja, Co-founder and CEO, Skillbox, said, “We are really pleased with the faith the investors have shown in us. This investment is a further validation of the robustness of our business model and the immense opportunity that the live event segment offers. We hope to scale rapidly and transform into a significant player over the next one year.”

Sandip Ranjhan, Angel Investor, said, “Skillbox’s platform is addressing a very unique and large market opportunity. With the excellent traction that the start-up has demonstrated since its inception, coupled with a very competent founding team, I am confident Skillbox will certainly disrupt the market.”

The platform has witnessed enormous growth in 2017-18 with over 2000 artists and more than 100 venues being connected, over 1200 gigs being facilitated and more than ₹1 crore of business generated for artists and businesses in various categories.
