Qualcomm India has today announced the winners from Cycle I of its ‘Qualcomm Design in India Challenge II’ (QDIC II). It has selected Tagbox Solutions Private Limited and Steradian Semiconductors Private Limited as winners.

The announcement was made at the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2017 in New Delhi. Since the beginning of this year, eight shortlisted companies were incubated with initial prize money of around ₹6.5 lakh ($10,000) each. The startups were provided engineering support at Qualcomm India’s Innovation Labs in Bangalore and Hyderabad to transform their ideas into prototypes.

In the final round, the companies were judged by the jury members consisting of Industry, Government and Qualcomm executives. At the end, two companies — Tagbox Solutions and Steradian Semiconductors were awarded around ₹49 lakh ($75,000) each.

Tagbox Solutions created a prototype of an ultra-low power wireless platform that is aimed at improving the effectiveness of Cold Storage and logistics. It monitors key parameters such as temperature, gas, relative humidity, door activity and energy.

On the other hand, Steradian Semiconductors created a prototype of a high-resolution 4D radar which will work as an all-weather vision for Autonomous drones and vehicles.

Qualcomm has also announced six finalists for the second cycle of QDIC II, which includes Ayasta Technologies, Sensara Technologies, Gaia Smart Cities Solutions, Intuvision Labs, Lightmetrics Technologies, and iClimb Systems India.

It will incubate these selected six companies in its Innovation Labs and final two winners will receive $75,000 at the end of incubation period in January 2018.
