Telangana state government’s Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department (ITE&C) has announced the launch of India’s first Blockchain District in Hyderabad, Telangana in partnership with Tech Mahindra and other technology leaders. It was announced at the International Blockchain Congress that is being held at Hyderabad.

The Blockchain District, being developed in Hyderabad is expected to be a centre of excellence for blockchain, an incubator for emerging technology with innovative infrastructure and facilities to foster the growth of Indian blockchain startups and companies.

Tech Mahindra is one of the founding members of the blockchain district and will be providing platform and technology assistance to all the incubators in it. It will also be empowering the accelerators to develop and solve market problems across its global customer ecosystem.

Tech Mahindra currently has 90 blockchain-based projects from all around the globe under its belt. It has already implemented 15 of these projects, showing it has the experience and expertise to lead the way for the blockchain implementation in the country.

Talking about the development, IT Minister, KT Rama Rao, stated, “Telangana government is proud to pioneer the first of its kind Blockchain District in India. With support from Tech Mahindra, we envision to set a global benchmark in providing cutting-edge Blockchain technology solutions and platforms across industries. It is not just a proud moment for Telangana but India as a global leader in the Digital Era”.

Other companies and institutions that have signed the MoU along with Telangana government and Tech Mahindra, include Nucleus Vision, Eleven01 Foundation, C-DAC, T-Hub, IIIT-Hyderabad, along with other colleges and universities.

The International Blockchain Congress taking place right now in Hyderabad is co-hosted by NITI Aayog, Government of Telangana’s ITE&C department, Government of Goa’s IT department, along with Nucleus Vision. Over the course of four days, it will be featuring some of the most prominent personalities as keynote speakers like Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Arun Seth, Chairman, NASSCOM Foundation, among many others.
