Nikhil Gandhi has been appointed as the India head of TikTok, a China-based short form video app, cited Mint.

Before joining the ByteDance-owned company TikTok, Nikhil Gandhi was serving as president and chief operating officer at Times Global Broadcasting. Now, Gandhi will lead the development of TikTok’s products and operations across the country,

“I am excited to be part of TikTok’s journey in India at a time when it is strengthening its overall presence in the country and building a platform that enables creative expression. I am looking forward to working with the team to build a platform that adds value to India’s growing digital community, every day,” Gandhi said.

TikTok, owned by ByteDance was released in 2017 for markets outside of China. It is an iOS and Android media app for creating and sharing short videos.

To increase the positive impact in India, Gandhi will work on inspiring creativity among TikTok users and he will also prioritize key initiatives, such as #EduTok, to benefit the community.

Furthermore, Gandhi has a total experience of 20 years, and held leadership positions at leading media and entertainment companies.

Besides TikTok, other platforms similar to its domain include ROPOSO, BetterButter, Giphy9GAGVocal, and many more.
