After series of executive exits from the company, Uber seems to be keen on filling up positions as soon as possible. The company has announced the appointment of Vishpala Reddy as Chief People’s Officer for India and South Asia.

In this role, Vishpala will now be focusing on building a dynamic workplace, further strengthen leadership capability and enable innovative people practices to support the growing workforce needs.

One of the major responsibility for her is to develop programmes that could foster an equal opportunity workplace at Uber, which has been a major concern for the company. She will also champion Uber India’s diversity and inclusion agenda.

Commenting on her appointment, Vishpala Reddy said,

I’m incredibly thrilled to join Uber and be a part of the company’s vision to redefine urban mobility and drive transformative growth in India and South Asia. In my new role, I look forward to building a forward looking, sustainable and people focussed organization and having the opportunity to work alongside a highly talented workforce.

Before joining Uber, Vishpala was Vice President and the Head of HR for American Express in India. she worked there for around 12 years, and played a critical role in driving the transformation of the India business.

In past few months, Uber has been making headlines because of its company culture, but not in a positive way. Many employees of the company had complained about the sexual harassment in the workplace, along with other toxic matters. This led to the resignation of Uber’s founder Travis Kalanick from his role of chief executive officer.

This new appointment comes at a time when the company is looking for a new chief executive officer. As per the reports, former CEO of General Electronics — Jeff Immelt, is the front-runner for the top-level job. However, along with Jeff, there are two others who are in the race for the CEO job.

There is high tension on the board of the cab-hailing company because of Benchmark’s lawsuit against its ousted co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick.
