Uber has today expanded its food delivery service – UberEats to Chennai. This marks the fifth city in which the company entered, within just five months of inception.

The company has partnered with more than 200 restaurants, including A2B vegetarian restaurant, Aasife Biryani, Cream Stone, Bombaysthan and many more in Chennai.

Commenting on the launch Bhavik Rathod, head of UberEATS India said,

We’re excited to launch UberEATS in Chennai within five months of commencing UberEATS operations in India. Synonymous to quick and reliable food delivery, we’re committed to providing a great experience to our consumers by giving them the power to choose from a range of cuisines at the push of a button. Our aim is to help everyone discover great food through the perfect pairing of amazing restaurant partners, our technology, and the Uber delivery network.

UberEATS is now available in Nungambakkam, T. Nagar, Adyar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Mylapore, Alwarpet and Royapettah. Soon, the company will expand to other places as well. It will serve from Monday through Sunday from 9:00 AM till 11.30 PM.

As an exclusive promotion for the newly launched service, UberEATS would be charging only ₹1 as the delivery fee on all orders in Chennai with no minimum order value.

It has also launched FestiveEATS, which will give consumers exclusive offers on UberEATS app from October 14th.

UberEATS was first started in 2014 as a small delivery pilot in Los Angeles. It is now a stand-alone app available in 29 countries and in 130 cities around the world.

It entered the Indian market in May 2017 with Mumbai as the first city. Since then, it has been expanded to Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, with Chennai being the latest addition.
