Gurugram-based online travel agency MakeMyTrip has appointed Vipul Prakash, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MakeMyTrip and Ibibo.

In his new role, Vipul Prakash will be responsible for developing and executing strategic direction and priorities of the online travel firm.

Showing confidence in the new COO, Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and CEO, MakeMyTrip, said, “We are confident that his proven track record and extensive experience will extend MakeMyTrip’s upward trajectory.”

Talking about his new role, Vipul Prakash, said, “MakeMyTrip is an iconic brand that has played a defining role in shaping the online travel space in India. I am extremely energised to take up my new role and have been truly impressed with the company’s institutional expertise and relentless focus on serving customers better. I look forward to drive the next phase of innovation and growth through operational excellence.”

Vipul Prakash, an IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, previously served as the Senior Vice President of beverages category for PepsiCo India. He worked with PepsiCo for two decades, across geographies, gaining a vast understanding of the consumer market and expertise in the industry.

Last month, it was reported that MakeMyTrip saw its revenues grow 25%, while cutting losses in Q2 FY19.

MakeMyTrip continues to strengthen its business, as it forayed into Experiences, with the launch of curated offering for travellers.

Earlier in August this year, it was reported that MakeMyTrip India received ₹69 crore from its parent.
