Mumbai-based startup, Wegan Food has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from the rich and royal family of SharJah and Ras Al Khaimah. The company will use these funds in expanding and upgrading commercial kitchen, inventory and to connect with more people to share their idea, globally and to spread the vision across the country. Initially, they’ll launch this program in Mumbai via food delivery and trade platforms. The company is also eyeing on to set up a chain and to form a network by collaborating with various restaurants, hotels, catering companies, coffee shop chains, and airlines. It’s official that, Kinjal Darukhanawala will be the CEO of Wegan Foods.

Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi, Her Highness commented that “I have invested in Wegan Foods in my personal capacity. I was impressed with the fact that Kinjal plans to have a 90% women workforce by hiring from organizations that groom and empower women from disadvantaged backgrounds. This is the biggest motivation for me. Globally, I have been an advocate for women’s rights and see this investment as a step in that direction.”

Kinjal Darukhanawala, founder and CEO of Wegan Foods mentioned that “We are creating a range of products that are delicious and dairy-free. We aim to be an ethical and transparent brand, which will source the highest quality ingredients. Each product will be crafted in what we call ‘happy kitchens’ and not in labs or factories.”

Wegan Foods launches its first product, Dairy Free Cheese in October 2017. This non-dairy cheese is healthy and within the paying capacity. The Vegan Cheese is soy-free, gluten-free and has many more advantages.
