Amazon has always been working on improving the audio quality of Fire TV devices. In the same process, Amazon has come up with a great solution. Amazon recently released an update on all its devices. The update will let users connect their Fire T.V devices with Amazon Echo devices. According to Amazon, Echo devices will connect to Fire TV devices after downloading the new software update. Amazon has named this feature “Alexa Home Theatre System.”

Customers who have the current generation Echo and Echo Plus will receive a stereo downmix of a Dolby signal, while the Echo Studio can stream Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Atmos formats.

Official Amazon forum  gave a list of all the compatible devices:

Compatible Fire TV Devices

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
  • Amazon Fire TV (3rd Generation)
  • Fire TV Cube (2nd Generation)

Compatible Echo Devices

  • Echo Dot (3rd Generation)
  • Echo (2nd Generation)
  • Echo (3rd Generation)
  • Echo Plus (1st Generation)
  • Echo Plus (2nd Generation)
  • Echo Dot with clock
  • Echo Studio

The configuration that Alexa Home Theatre System will support are 1.0 (one Echo device working as an external speaker), 1.1 (one Echo device working as an external speaker with Echo Sub, 2.0 (two Echo devices working as external speakers, one as left audio and one as right audio), 2.1 (two Echo devices working as external speakers, one as left audio and one as right audio, and on Echo Sub)

To experience the Alexa Home Theatre System, connect your Echo and Fire TV device with the same account. Open Alexa app There will be an option to “Set Up Audio System.” Tap “Set Up Audio System” from the popup and then tap the “Home Cinema” on the next screen. Select your audio and video devices and then follow the instructions.
