After the successful launch of Amazon fire stick, Amazon India is internally testing their next in-home smart speaker AKA, the Amazon Echo and Amazon Dot.
Amazon Echo and Amazon Dot are the two smart-home appliances, already available in UK and US. According to US and UK audience, the device does perform a lot of tasks other than just playing music. By connecting to either smartphone or WiFi, one can voice search for anything in Amazon store, order food, book a movie ticket or even book a cab.
However, in India, the market for these kinds of trinkets is very narrow. Amazon has to work hard to programme it’s AI Alexa to recognise and analyse different accents and languages. According to a tipster, the device will be launched at the Deepavali season with just three language detecting capabilities (English, Hindi and Tamil). Over the time, support for additional language will be pushed via OTA update.
Coming to the pricing, The Amazon Echo retails for $170 (INR 10921.65) and the Echo Dot retails for $50 (INR 3212.25). So, we can expect the prices of Eco Dot to be around ~INR 4000 and Echo will be priced near ~INR 12,000.
