Apple laptops were working on Intel processors al these years. Now, Apple has decided to break this chain and make its own processor. ARM-based Apple laptop without the Intel processor may release soon. Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI securities analyst says the new Mac is coming sometime in the next 12 to 18 months and will feature an in-house processor not developed by Intel.

In 2018, Kuo made similar predictions, and after which many news reports said Apple is making a 12 core processor based on ARM architecture. Apple would be no longer using Intel processors for its laptops.

Apple has never confirmed officially that it has dropped Intel from Mac CPUs. By, seeing its job postings and hires from the last few years will make us assume that it is building its own processor. This also makes us assume it is going to drop intel form its CPUs. From this it can reduce its dependence on third parties.

Apple has started using Intel processors for the Mac line in 2006 which had switched from PowerPC processors. From then Apple has contributed 5% of Intel’s annual revenue, , according to previous Bloomberg analysis.

Moreover, building their own processors is not new for Apple. It has designed processors for its iPhones and iPad. Also, last year Apple has paid $1 billion to acquire Intel’s 5G modem business.
