The delivery for the pre-booked JioPhone have already started, however, people are not happy with the new terms and conditions. It looks like, it’s a great time to steal the thunder from the brand. So, Bharti Airtel is preparing to launch a new feature phone priced at INR 2,000 with support for WhatsApp.

Unlike the JioPhone, the device is expected to feature an Android Operating system, with access to millions of Android portfolio. Bharti Airtel is already in talks with the few Indian smartphone manufactures to create a perfect smartphone at an affordable price tag of INR 2,000.

It looks like, Airtel phone priced at INR 2,000 will offer a touchscreen instead of old-school non-touch screen found on the JioPhone. Here is the list of specifications of the upcoming Bharti Airtel smartphone.

The upcoming Airtel smartphone is expected to feature a 3.5-inch to a 4.5-inch display with a low-resolution FWVGA touchscreen and a 2.5D curved tempered glass on the top. The device is most likely to feature a 512 MB RAM with 8 GB storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 128 GB). The device is likely to feature an entry-level Quad-core SoC, probably from MediaTek.

The Airtel smartphone is also expected to offer a front-facing, as well as a rear-facing camera (2 MP and 5 MP) with a dedicated, LED flash and 720p video recording capability. The device also expected to offer a 2500 mAh Li-ion battery (user replaceable) charging via normal micro USB port like most of the smartphones.

In terms of operating system, the device is expected to feature Android Nougat 7.1.1 with custom UI on the top, with access to millions of Android apps via play store. The device is likely to feature single SIM card slot with 4G LTE and VoLte capability. Just like the JioPhone, the device will not accept any third party network.

Airtel phone is also expected to offer similar data packs like Jio, which offers bundled data and voice calls at an affordable price tag. It’s a fascinating fact to see a smartphone with the following specifications, however, according to analytics, the JioPhone manufacturing costs is around INR 2,500 and the company is selling at INR 1,500. It’s interesting to see what does Airtel has to offer to stand against the JioPhone.
