As the mobile plans getting cheaper day-by-day we tend to keep mobile data turn on 24*7. However, when we reach our home, we use WiFi (automatically connects).

It looks like, a new bug in the latest Android operating system Android Oreo isn’t working the way it should be. Even though the user is connected to the WiFi network, the device still using mobile data.

A Reddit user with user name  ‘Unusual_Sauce’ has reported the same for the 9To5Google website. According to the statement given, her/his mobile data saw a huge increment in the usage compared to the previous data usage.

The main cause for this bug is, the setting mobile data always active found in the developer option comes enabled by default. If you have an unlimited data plan it’s ok, otherwise, head towards developer options by tapping the built number 6 times and disable the mobile data always active feature.

It looks like Google has already noticed this bug and working on a fix, which should arrive in few days. Do you have Google Pixel or Nexus smartphone with Android Oreo? Did you face this issue? Let us know about your story.
