The entry-level phone market has been over dominated by 1500 JioPhone, finally, now we have a stiff competitor for the same, which costs a fraction of amount compared to the other phones in the market. In fact, the Detel D1 phone is priced at ₹299 + 12 percent GST, which brings up the pricing of the device to ₹ 349.

In fact, we can call this as Freedom 349 phone. A phone truly meant to the mass audience and a great phone for the basic tasks like calling and texting. As this is a one of a kind phone, one has to pre-order the smartphone from Detel India official website. Don’t worry, as the company is offering cash on delivery payment option so, you can pay after you receive the article. Usually, the company takes 10 to 15 days to deliver the device after the order has been placed, so, be patient as there is no scam involved and it’s not a hit or miss case like the JioPhone.

Do note that, the phone does not support 4G LTE or VoLte and one has to use a SIM card with 2G support (except Jio every other Indian operator offers this feature). To make this more interesting BSNL has partnered with Detel with one of a kind plan (calling) and here are the details of the plan.

Instead of paying ₹349, a user has to make a payment of ₹499, which comes with a prepaid BSNL SIM card (one needs to activate via proper channel by submitting the documents for the same). This will give access to the users with discounted call rates. A user with this calling pack will be able to make calls at 15 paise per minute (BSNL to BSNL) and 40 paise per minute to other networks. This applies to local and STD calls. A user can also set free caller tunes for 28 days at no extra cost.

If we look at the features of the Detel D1 phone, the smartphone looks like the old school featurephone from Nokia with a monochrome display with 1.44-inch screen size. The phone is powered by a 650 mAh user replaceable battery which can last for days on a single charge. The phones come with features like phonebook, Torchlight, and a single full-sized SIM slot, which can accept any network SIM with 2G network. The phone does offer a game, and this is the most played game on any phone AKA the Snake.

One can set different modes like General, silent and vibration (depending on the occasion) so with respect to phone experience, the phones pack everything, including a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Additionally, the phone does come with 12 months warranty, which will give peace of mind for the users.

So, if you are looking for an entry-level phone with great battery life, then is the smartphone that one has can consider and we can recommend. So, what do you think about the Detel D1? Are you impressed with the price tag at which the device is being offered? Share your views in the comment box.
