All major premium smartphone makers have launched their flagship smartphones for the year 2017 (except Apple). It very arduous to make a choice between these smartphones, as they feature some of the unique features and best hardware specifications that we can ever expect.

Processor and RAM: Considering the fact that except iPhone 7+ every other phone is running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, the performances will be almost similar to one another. However, Apple iPhone 7+ being a year old smartphone scores highest points on any benchmarking applications. So, none of these smartphones will disappoint when it comes to day-to-day use or even any highly demanding task. So it’s a win-win for everyone.

Display: Sometimes, whatever the hardware inside doesn’t matter until it’s showcased on the big canvas. The display is something that every smartphone maker will try to push it hard to get 100% out of it. The iPhone 7+ lags in this category, the beautiful 5.5 inch 1080p screen does look vivid and vibrant, but when we compare that screen with the Samsung’s QHD AMOLED screen or even any 2K screen, the display will lose its charm. The best-looking display in the lot is offered by Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the OLED technology shines in this department, blacks will be pitch-black and other colours will be vibrant and vivid. Both Nokia 8 and HTC U11 features 2K IPS LCD screen, these screens do look premium and offers great viewing angle and better than the one found in iPhone 7, but Note 7’s display is something from the future and best of all, their infinity dual edge curved feature will just add a diamond to the crown. If you are into multi media consumption or display centric user, go with $960 priced Note 7 you won’t regret it or wait for iPhone 8, as the phone from the Silicon Valley giant is also featuring OLED screen.

Operating system: Everyone knows about this one, Apple is known for its customer satisfaction and user-friendly operating system, in fact, Android smartphones are bound to receive software updates for 2 years, whereas Apple will continue to push software updates for their smartphones up to 4 years.  However, there are certain restrictions in iOS like single SIM card slot, no memory extension, cannot install apps outside Apple Appstore etc. Android is a great platform for customizing your phone, or it gives freedom of choice, so you can do whatever you want to do with your smartphone. Nokia 8 offers the stock Android experience, whereas Galaxy Note 8 and HTC U11 offers a customised version of the Android operating system. If you need faster updates, and cleaner looking OS then go for Nokia 8. Note 8 and HTC U11 offers slightly tweaked operating system with additional features. Choosing between Android and iOS is a tough situation, it all depends on one’s needs and requirements and their previous encounters.

Camera: The camera’s on this flagship smartphones are one of the best camera’s available in the market. In fact, these devices can take pictures better than the some of the entry level DSLR’s available out there. The iPhone 7 was the first Apple iPhone to feature dual camera setup. Both Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 7+ are equipped with the similar technology dual rear camera setup. the dual 12 MP cameras (RGB + RGB) with one being a normal sensor and another being a telephoto sensor. Both device support X2 optical zoom and X10 digital zoom. However, the telephoto lens on iPhone 7+ does not offer OIS and the one on Galaxy Note 8 does making it a tad bit better than the iPhone 7+. However, as we haven’t tested the Galaxy Note 8’s camera, we cannot say just by the better hardware it can take better pictures (iPhone 7+ captures best portrait pictures). On the other hand, the Nokia 8 also features dual rear camera setup (RGB + monochrome) the device comes with a new feature called Bothie, where a user can use both front facing and rear facing camera simultaneously. The device can take great photos with highlighted details. The camera that is found on HTC U11 is simplest one, the single 12 MP camera with OIS does capture great photographs but doesn’t come close to the smartphones with dual camera setup. Your main concerns are camera capabilities, then considering either iPhone 7+ or Galaxy Note 8.

Except iPhone 7+ every other smartphone on the list offers dual SIM feature and support to external SD card. Apple iPhone 7+ and HTC U11 does not feature 3.5 mm headphone jack. Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone 7+ features IP67 rating, Galaxy Note 8 offers wireless charging. Choose wisely as these phones don’t come cheap.
