Google Files GO

Alphabet Inc’s, the Google’s parent company has launched a file managing tool in several Chinese app stores. The company launched Google Files GO app in China via third-party app stores. The company is currently looking for fresh inroads to the world’s biggest smartphone market. It is, however, worth to note that most of the search giant’s top products are banned in China.

A China-specific version of the app was released by the company on Thursday. It is the second China-specific app that is released by the company since its flagship services were banned. According to some reports, the file management app is available on the Tencent, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Baidu app stores.

More about Google Files GO:

Files Go app is of course not a flagship Google app. The app is a part of Google’s Android Go ecosystem of stripped-down apps. This app has been designed to run on entry-level devices also. Files Go is one of the Google’s latest Android apps that helps manage storage, allows to easily share files on the phone without any other apps. Its entire purpose is to help manage the storage. It uses a filter rather than the traditional folders that most file managers use to organize the stuff more intuitively.

The main page of the Files Go app has two tabs Storage and Files. The Storage tab tells us about the status of our storage i.e. how much memory is been getting used for both internal and external storage options. It also provides helpful suggestions of files to erase through which we can free up some space from our phone. It gives alert for large unnecessary files, audio files, or duplicate files that have been in the memory for a long time.

However, the app’s release in China is still significant for Google, knowing that Google apps have been unavailable in the country. This has been the case since 2010, when the search-giant pulled out of the country, also bringing out the Play Store with it.
