A new public initiative has been launched by Google India on Monday to create awareness around Internet safety among the masses. The new initiative #SecurityCheckKiya is aimed to protect young and first-time web users from account hijacking, ensuring Android devices safety from malicious apps and secure all their personal data if their device is lost by them.
Nowadays, a lot of users has been connecting with the world through the internet using easy access modes but lacking technical literacy, Indian users are more vulnerable to bad actors and abuse on the web- the company marked in a statement.
Sunita Mohanty.Director,Trust, and Safety said that the user base in India should take precautions in the virtual world just like the way they’re always careful in the physical world while engaging with the people. Though the Google ensures certain layers of security in all its services but keeping web safe from bad actors is everyone’s shared responsibility!
The tech giant, Google will make this information available on its homepage www.google .co.in. The tech giant will encourage the users to take the first step of Security Check on Safer Internet Day which will be celebrated on February 6th.
“Through our initiative # SecurityCheckKiya, we want to nudge Internet users to take action to safeguard themselves, because the first step to a safer Internet starts with them. We are asking users to get started on their journey by securing their data and devices by asking them #SecurityCheckKiya”, Mohanty further added. The three-step action is the main highlight of the Security Check.
All Android devices and Gmail users have this privilege to review their security settings and google account activity to protect account hijacking. By one click on “Google Security” option, it automatically scans for any danger and guides users to keep their account safe.
Also, the user can scan and check Android device for any harmful apps through Google Play Protect so as to safeguard their Android devices from malicious apps. It scans all the apps for malware before and after the installation.
In case user lost his phone, the security of the personal data can be ensured by downloading “Find My Device App” and it will help the users to locate the lost android phone easily and keeps the data safely.
