Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 lockdown has become mandatory for everyone. Many OTT platforms are seeing a big rise during this season. Also, many business works and educational lectures begin to carry out online. Communication apps like Zoom, Google Duo, Google Meet, etc are being used widely. Makers are of these apps are adding new features to make users use the app effortlessly. A few days back there was a rumor that Google is going to bring many new features for Meet. The Government has announced that the Zoom app is not safe so, many are turning there backs to it and switching to other communication apps.

In a recent blog post Google announced that Google Meet has got four most requested features to its platforms. Also, a few days back Google duo has also got new features. Smita Hashim, Director of Product Management said “These features use technologies like Google AI to improve meeting quality and user experience”. Nowadays Google Meet is used mostly for work-related purposes or Business conferences, etc.

New Features:

New tiled layouts have been rolled out in Google Meet. This enables its users to view 16 people at a time before only four people can be viewed at a time. This layout enables larger meetings and brings the best user experience.

Users can give the presentation by clicking the ‘present now’ button which is given in the bottom right corner. This can cover the entire screen or part of a screen based on the user’s choice. Once the user has completed his/her presentation the user can stop the presentation by clicking the ‘stop presentation’ button.

Low lighting can be solved with the new feature of Meet. If a user is in low light conditions he can adjust his/her lighting which makes them clearly visible to the others. Now, this feature is available only for mobile users and will roll out to web users soon. AI( artificial intelligence) technology has been used for this.

Noise cancellation technology has also been introduced to Meet to remover background sounds while having a conversation with others. This feature also is now available for Mobile users and will roll out soon for web users.
