Video conferencing apps are growing enormously amid of lockdown. The outbreak of coronavirus is worse and made people follow social distancing. With this the social media and video conferencing apps have been introducing new features to its platforms. Recently, Google Meet has also introduced some new features and made it free for all users. Also, Meet has got a new tiled layout feature with up to 16 users can participate in a video call at a time. It has also got a noise cancellation feature to reduce background noise during the conversation. Google also rolled out low light mode which helps users make visible themselves in bad lighting conditions.

Meet option in Gmail:

Google has introduced another new feature that integrates Google Meet into the Gmail accounts of GSuite users. This allows users to get into calls without opening the new platform. To use this feature users have to log into their Gmail accounts, they will find Meet option just above the Hangouts chats. Users can either click on ‘Join a meeting’ option or ‘Start a meeting’ option as per their wish.

Also, Google has announced that its users will be able to sign up for Google Meet and use new features. Such as scheduling and screen sharing, real-time captions, and layouts, and an expanded tiled view. In a blog post Google has said” It’s important that everyone who uses Meet has a secure and reliable experience from the start. So, beginning next week, we’ll be gradually expanding its availability to more and more people over the following weeks”.

The usage of Google Meet has been increased 30 times since January. Also, every day it has been adding 3 million new users. Google says” As of this month, Meet is hosting 3 billion minutes of video meetings and adding roughly 3 million new users every day. And as of last week, Meet’s daily meeting participants surpassed 100 million”.
