The news suggests that the tech giant Google is ready to make a revolutionary move in trending augmented reality system with its very own ARCore with new features and the company is making its Lens visual search tool part of Google Photos on all its phones. The previous day marked the launch of ARCore 1.0 on all Google Pixel phones, all latest Samsung flagship phones, the Android Oreo models of LG’s V30 and V30 Plus smartphones, the Asus Zenfone AR, and the Chinese phone makers flagship OnePlus 5. Besides preview version’s capabilities, ARCore 1.0 comes with support for introducing virtual objects to any textured surface i.e., not limiting it to only flat, horizontal ones. Google makes a strong claim that the augmented reality platform is currently supported by 100 million Android phones and the tech-giant has joined hands with several companies(Samsung, Huawei, LG, Lenovo owned Motorola, Asus, Xiaomi, HMD collaboration Nokia, Sony Mobile, LTE and Vivo) to ensure new ARCore smartphones in the future.

Earlier, the Google Lens was confined to the company’s flagship Pixel-only but now the feature is available through Google Photos on Android and iOS9 or later platforms or through Google Assistant on several Android premium segment flagships. This thing is supposed to come with an improved and exciting feature which will aid the users in recognizing common animal breeds and plant types. Lens can access the photos taken already by the user through Photos and in case you’re a promising smartphone user of any of the following-listed brands:Samsung, Huawei, LG, Motorola, Sony, and HMD / Nokia flagship: Guess what, with Assistant thing on your phone, you can simply take out your phone and point it at something to get the details.

The augmented reality system ARCore was launched as a limited preview in the month of August last year, following which the Lens arrived in the month of October last year. Aparna Chennapragada, senior director,Google Lens gave the brief idea about the products and described them as the the two sides of the same coin: She stated that Lens is a “camera-in” setup that helps the user to develop an idea about the visual world, and ARCore is a framework that aids the developers to easily build augmented reality Apps, something of same utility as Apple’s ARKit for iOS.

Google has given the developers a flexible framework to upload their own ARCore-based apps to the Play Store. A chance to all the apps that feature augmented reality capabilities to integrate with ARCore tech and deliver better performance to the users. A live example of this whole new concept is Snap, improving its “world lens feature” with ARCore, and offering a new experience through a high tech portal- a completely revolutionized entry to Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium. The tech giant Google could be seen soon updating the Android Studio to help the developers’ preview AR apps on the desktop.

Besides, Snap’s experience, tech giant Google is joining hands with a few other developers in the industry to mark the joyful occasion of ARCore 1.0’s launch. The much talked Sotheby International Realty, furniture venture Otto, and e-commerce firm JD.com will let the customers preview rooms, furniture, appliances and other items. The renowned automobile sector player Porsche will allow the Android users check out a version of its Mission E concept vehicle, and an upcoming much hyped mobile game application called Ghostbusters World will permit all the players to trap ghosts in the real world- wonders of AR! Google is also looking forward to breaking the stereotype of the Play Store ecosystem in China and could be seen uniting with Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi to distribute ARCore-powered apps through independent app stores.

The company’s long-term desire and vision for ARCore and Lens is a hot talk among the tech-savvys’. As pointed by Aparna, Google could easily team up Android’s “camera-in” and “camera-out” functions in the smartphones. Quoting an example about the same, she said just imagine of seeing a nice masterpiece of sofa set at a friend’s place, you click a pick for Google to identify, and once you’re home you can automatically call up a 3D model of the same sofa set to preview. There is nothing astonishing that the whole concept of revolutionary Lens-style visual search could also be seen expanding beyond phones to something like Google’s VR180 point-and-shoot video camera line, where it could smoothly and effortlessly identify or annotate objects. She further added that this is one of the best thing company is looking at and they don’t want to ruin the user experience by imposing more cognitive load to the expectations!

Talking about the availability, both Lens and ARCore will be widely available in few days and in a more sophisticated manner. So, that’s all in the story. Stay connected for more updates.
