There’s a new rumor running all around that Google  might be gearing up to introduce new mid-range Pixel smartphone, which will be launched in the first half of 2019.(earlier rumoured to be exclusive for India)

More details:

Roland Quandt, a tech reporter(also a famous tipster) from WinFuture states on his Twitter handle that Google is working on a device that is going to be fueled by the Snapdragon 710. There is no detailed information regarding the phone since it has gone into development just a month ago and will be ready starting 2019.

About Snapdragon 710:

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 710 last week. Here’s what Qualcomm had to say about what these new 700-series chips are intended for:

“The Snapdragon 710 is designed with highly efficient architectures for artificial intelligence, featuring a multi-core AI Engine and neural network processing capabilities. The Snapdragon 710 is the first mobile platform in the new 700-tier portfolio, designed to exceed what is expected from today’s high-tier mobile experiences by bringing select premium-tier features to a broader audience.”

The Snapdragon 710 is going to bring flagship features to smartphones while giving manufacturers more freedom in terms of cost management. For example, the Mi 8 SE, as mentioned earlier, features a Snapdragon 710 but it carries a price of only $281 in China. This can give rise to the speculation that the affordable Pixel smartphone could also fetch a much cheaper price than the upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Google will launch two Pixel 3 smartphones later this fall, both being consistent upgrades over the current Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL models. The phones are said to be manufactured by Foxconn, but LG Display is supposed to provide the panels for the upcoming Pixel 3 handsets. The main selling point of the Pixel series has been its software. The Pixel smartphones are the flag bearers of Android, and show-off the true capabilities of the OS. As far as the low-end segment of smartphones is concerned, Google already has the Android One program wherein it partners with OEMs to make sure that pure Android shipped and that updates are pushed out as soon as possible.
