Both Honor 8 Pro and OnePlus 5 offers tremendous value for money. When it comes to making choice between two model, there is never an easy pick between the duo. So, here are the few areas where these devices shine and shimmers.

Display: Honor 8 features a larger 5.7-inch quad HD (2K) based on the IPS LCD technology, the OnePlus 5 inherits its 1080p OLED panel from its predecessor OnePlus 3/3t. With respect to viewing angle screen quality and color reproduction both do excellent job. OnePlus’s display looks more vivid due to its OLED technology. When it comes to virtual reality or augmented reality, additional pixels on Honor 8 comes to the rescue.

Processor and RAM: OnePlus gives an option to the user with two storage and RAM options (6 GB + 64 GB or 8 GB + 128 GB). The Honor just comes with the standard 6 GB RAM + 128 GB onboard storage. As 6 GB RAM on Android is a lot, 8 GB RAM does not make any sense at all. So, both models are one on one here.

Camera: Though both models packs dual sensor rear camera setup, they are engineered to work differently. OnePlus’s camera setup reflects the Apple’s take on dual rear camera and Honor’s resembles the Huawei P10. Oneplus’s main camera comprises of 16 MP F/1.7 normal sensor with 20 MP F/2.2 telephoto lens that helps to produce 2X lossless zoom images and to create the bokeh effect. Honor 8 Pro offers 12 MP normal sensor with 12 MP monochrome sensor, even this combination is great for getting good photos with added sharpness and natural looking photos. Both devices support 4K video recording capability but lack optical image stabilization.

Operating system: Behind the curtain, Android Nougat is the operating system. But Honor 8 Pro comes with a customizable UI called EMUI 5.1. The Oneplus offers stock android look alike UI with little customization what so ever. One will not notice any lag or frame rate drops what so ever, as both devices offer flagship SoC beneath.

To conclude, if you are into a bigger screen, VR, AR, expandable storage and bigger battery go with Honor 8. Go with OnePlus 5 if your priority is stock Android OS, compact form factor.
