As there were no new smartphones under the Moto X series, we thought Moto killed the X lineup. Alas, now we have a new member in the series AKA Moto X4. The device boasts flagship tier specifications and niche build quality.

In terms of design, the device follows its Moto G Lineup. However, the Moto X4 features an all metal unibody design, which looks fancy just like most of the flagship smartphones in 2017. Considering the recently launched premium flagship smartphones, it looks like the metal unibody era has ended.

The device features a 5.2-inch OLED 1080p panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Octa-core SoC. In terms of storage and RAM, the device will have two options, with 3 GB / 32 GB combination or 4 GB / 64 GB combination. Both models do support external SD card up to 128 GB.

The Moto X4 is equipped with dual rear camera setup (12 MP + 8 MP) RGB sensors, the camera allows the user to use live face filters and one can take DSLR like photography with improved depth of field. the front facing 16 MP selfie camera does support 1080p video recording capability with an independent LED flash.

The device boasts a moderate 3000 mAh non-user replaceable battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port. However, the device does not offer wireless charging. IP68 rating will make sure that the minor water spills will not alter the device’s condition.

The device does offer dual SIM card slots with 4G and VoLte capability, with 5 GHz WiFi channel support. Moto has partnered with Amazon to offer its AI Alexa out of the box. The entry level model will retail for €399 or INR 30363. For the specifications the device is offering, it looks like the Moto X4 is a bit over-priced smartphone, as its sibling Moto G5S Plus comes with similar specifications at the half the price tag.
