Intex India has launched a new entry-level Android-based smartphone called Intex ELYT e6. The device offers two distinct selling points, one is the massive 4000 mAh Li-ion battery, which is not usually seen on the entry-level model and an 8 MP selfie camera. The smartphone maker has partnered with Flipkart and the device will be available exclusively from the e-commerce website from 15th December.

In terms of design and aesthetics, the company has gone the simple plastic unibody design, which is an industrially accepted design for the entry-level smartphones. However, considering the ₹7,000 price tag, we would have liked a metal unibody design like the Xiaomi Redmi 4. The black unibody design gives standard look and will not have permanent scuffs or scratches like the one with Glass or Metal unibody design.

The actual tec specifications on the Intex ELYT e6 are not bad either. We have a standard 5.0-inch 720p HD IPS LCD screen laminated by the 2.5D curved tempered glass, which should offer better in hand feel. As one can speculate, the smartphone still uses 16:9 aspect ratio with big bezels on all four sides of the device. The smartphone is powered by an entry-level MediaTek Quad-core SoC, paired with 3 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (128 GB).

The standard dual SIM card slot with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both slots is what we get on the Intex ELYT e6. Additionally, the device does offer WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, and Bluetooth support.

The smartphone packs a 13 MP rear-facing shooter with AF and 1080p video recording capability. For the selfie camera, the smartphone uses an 8 MP shooter. Both camera modules do have a dedicated flash unit, which should enhance the low light photography.

The phone runs on a custom version of Android Nougat operating system with the third-party user interface. There are no words on the future software updates.

Thanks to the 4000 mAh Li-ion battery, the device can easily last for a complete day of usage for a normal user. If you are a mediocre user, then the device might last up to 2 working days for a single change. The bigger battery also makes the phone weighs around 167.5 grams.

Here is the official product statement from Nidhi Markanday, director, Intex Technologies:
