JioPhone has finally started to distribute their much hyped free feature phone (effectively after three years). However, as its competitors like Vodafone and Airtel are partnering with Indian smartphone OME to launch Android smartphones at an irresistible price tag, it has become a nightmare to Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio.

Allegedly, Airtel has partnered with Karbonn and Celkon to launch Android-powered smartphones under the price tag of INR 1,500 which offers a touch screen, Android user interface and the app store which caters up to 2.7 billion apps, as JioPhone has none of these features. So, specifically considering it as a media consumption device, 2.4-inch non-touch display can never match 4.0-inch touchscreen display what so ever.

As per our knowledge, the Jio has halted the production of Kai OS powered JioPhone (based on Firefox OS built on top of HTML 5) and working on an all-new device with touchscreen and Android ecosystem. However, for those who have already pre-booked JioPhone, the users should receive their pre-order and the company might offer a similar phone with Android operating system.

Jio already owns an existing smartphone lineup called LYF, so, instead of doing any circus, the company can also decrease the price tag of the same in upcoming days with interesting cash back offers just like these phones. As Jio tariff plans are getting costlier in a month to month basis, it’s interesting how this will impact on the company’s survival and in future will Jio planning to increase Jio tariff as well?

However, there are more than 6 million users in India who have pre-ordered JioPhone and waiting to receive the same,  what about them? Will Jio retain the Kai powered JioPhone, considering the amount it has spent on R&D? Time should answer these questions. What do you think about all these chaos?
