Soon after the launch of JioPhone, many mobile OME’s and network providers are pairing to offer bundled phones with complementary data and voice services.

Currently, the BSNL joins this race and partners with the two Indian based OEM Lava and Micromax India. Here is the official statement from the K Ramachand, Principle General manager Hyderabad.

BSNL has tied up with Micromax and Lava to provide instruments to BSNL customers at low cost. We are coming out with bundled offers on the handsets manufactured by Micromax and Lava with BSNL SIMs…the cost details are being worked out,”

As of now, there are no exact details on the device or plans are still unknown. Here are the few of the speculations of the same.

However, here is the list of the specifications, that one can expect from the upcoming bundled offers from the following partnerships.

Instead of one smartphone, the device might offer a new lineup of devices starting from the entry-level non touch screen with just calling and texting capability, and a more premium features like a web browser, video player, and a micro SD card slot with camera, which might offer bundled data and voice calling capability, depending on the package you are interested in.

The device might also offer touchscreen smartphones, which will be priced under INR 6,000 with Android operating system, larger touch screen as well as a bigger battery. However, none of these devices will offer 4G LTE and VoLte capability, as BSNL doesn’t have a 4G network and it doesn’t have any plans to upgrade for the same.

One thing to go with the BSNL is their network coverage, in fact, they have the best network coverage in the entire India (even in the forests) which makes it the go-to-go mobiles. Let’s wait for few more days to understand more about this partnership? Can BSNL overcome from the shadow of Jio? Let’s wait and see.
