As JioPhone’s pre-booking is going to begin from 24th August 2017, other OEM manufacturers are getting ready to give tough competition to JioPhone.

According to an interview, Rahul Sharma, CEO Micromax India says, even they are working on the prototypes of 4G enabled feature phones as well. As a matter of fact, Micromax holds a share of an elephant in the feature phone market in India.

However, just catering a 4G enabled feature phone will not work, as Jio bundles their attractive tariff like free unlimited calls and unlimited data for Just INR 153, other OEM’s should also partner with cellular network providers to bundle attractive data plans to crack the market.

It’s not about 4G but it’s all about the internet: If we analyse the situation carefully, one can see that the hype from JioPhone is not about having a 4G enabled handset. Instead, if Jio had the 3G bandwidth and offered same features people would still have gone Deja-Vu about that. As Jio just has 4G spectrum it’s safe to say that every other competitor has to offer nothing less than 4G to be in the race.

Here are the official statements from the Micromax India CEO on JioPhone and how is going to tackle the market from now on:

“I have yet to see any impact of JioPhone, When they are here, we will take a call” (hinting about upcoming 4G enabled feature phone).

“We were selling phones that maxed out at 3G support,” Sharma told Gadgets 360. “But overnight, the market changed from 3G to 4G. So at that time, a person who had never even purchased a 3G-enabled phone wanted to get a 4G-enabled smartphone to make use of the ‘free Internet’,”

Can other OEM able to tackle JioPhone penetration in India? let us know in the comment below.
