Micromax India has launched a new smartphone, the Micromax Bharat-1 in India priced at INR 2,200 only. The company has now partnered with BSNL to offer Unlimited Voice calls and Unlimited Data for just INR 97 per month. However, as the government-owned cellular network provider just offers either 3G or 2G data speeds (they don’t have the 4G bandwidth). Micromax Bharat-1 is like a JioPhone, but no strings attached.

The phone is dubbed as the “Desh Ki 4G Phone“, which will be available across the retail stores from 20th October 2017.

According to Rahul Sharma, the Co-Founder of Micromax, the effective price of the Micromax Bahrat-1 will come out to be INR 3,364, and the JioPhone costs INR 3,336 for the first twelve months. However, if the user decides to continue the use of JioPhone, then, after 24 months the device might cost INR 5,172 and the Bharat-1 will cost INR 4,528 only. After 38 months, if the customer is still using the JioPhone and Micromax Bharat-1, then Jio user would have to spend a total amount of INR 6,008 and the Bharat-1 user has to spend just INR 5,692 only. (After all these calculation, Rahul Sharma forgot the INR 1,500 cashback from the Jio that is being offered to the customer on successful return of the phone).

Unlike JioPhone and Airtel smartphone, the users are not entitled to use a specific carrier, in fact, they can use any network which they wish.

Tech specifications of the Micromax Bharat-1:

The Micromax Bharat-1 features a 2.4-inch non-touch colour display, powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (unknown) paired with 512 MB LPDDR3 RAM and 4 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 32 GB). In terms of camera capability, the device offers a 2 MP rear-facing main camera and a VGA front-facing camera.

The device supports 22 Indian languages and the phone is also pre-loaded with 100 TV channels and tons of video and audio files online. The Phone offers an unlimited plan for just INR 97, in comparison with the Jio’s 156 per month plan.

In terms of connectivity, the device offers 2G, 3G, and 4G with Voice over LTE bandwidth on both the slots. Unlike Airtel smartphone or JioPhone, one can use any network on Bharat-1 (unlocked smartphone). So, you can go with the BSNL, if you are not interested, you can go with any GSM network provider.
