The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a halt to the school and college life and to ensure that the study materials and teachings are delivered to the students on time, Microsoft has taken initiative so that students can continue learning online in this critical situation. Microsoft is trying to add something new and better to the transition of teachers for better learning compared to explaining on video and mailing PowerPoint presentations. Microsoft will soon launch some new features that would help the teachers to interact with students in a better way and keep them engaged in online classes. Here are the new features that would be introduced.

More participants

Up to 49 people would be able to take part in one single screen at one time. There will be a grid of seven rows and seven columns that will show all the students. The preview of this feature will be revealed by the end of this month and it will be available by the end of 2020.

Group projects tool

Virtual breakout sessions will be introduced which would be a great help in dividing teams for a project or assignment during school or college hours and to keep an eye on the activities of the students. There will be the facility of communicating separately with each group during this session.

Keeping students engaged

The feature of hand-raising in a video conference is considered as very important. Teachers would get to see the compilation of attendance reports and class insights which will help in tracking the assignments rate, activity metrics and grades.

Advanced security

There will be a meeting lobby which would help the teachers to prevent students from starting the class before their supervision. There will be an option of choosing the students they would like to allow to join a class and assign presenters to make sure that they are concentrating on the class.

A learning environment

Since online classes were introduced, students join the class from any place either from their home or outside the home. There will be a new option to choose a separate background from the existing or custom one with background blur. This will prevent the problem of the class being led astray because of the disturbance in background.

Microsoft will integrate apps like Canvas, Nearpod, Prezi, Kahoot, GO1, Moodle, Gaggle, Piazza for improving creativity and efficiency and add dynamics to the tools used for a task. Microsoft has stated that they would soon incorporate more integrations in the app.
