Microsoft has been reported to launch its upcoming version of Xbox by 2020, says, Thurrott’s CEO Brad Sams. The first version named ‘Xbox’ was launched in 2001.

Microsoft owned Xbox might bring a new Xbox version to market by 2020, noted Thurrott’s CEO Brad Sams.

Thurrott’s Sams also pointed that the Microsoft, which is still struggling to make the Xbox One a better challenger to the Sony’s PlayStation 4. Sony is under progress to make PlayStation 5.

Sams also reported that Microsoft codenamed it’s new Xbox development as “Scarlett”, which sounds to mean “Family of devices”.

On Sunday at E3 2018 summit, Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox spoke that

The same team that delivered unprecedented performance with Xbox One X is deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to set the benchmark for console gaming.

Microsoft owned Xbox reportedly working on new Xbox version which might support backward compatibility for existing Xbox One games. The time taken into its Research and development signifies that company wants to make it equipped with unique features, targeting its competition with Sony PlayStation 5.

The previous Xbox version were Xbox (2001), Xbox 360 (2005), Xbox one (2013), Xbox one X (2016). The team is working on its ninth generation.

As Spencer quoted ‘ next Xbox consoles’ and if we connect it with Thurrott’s Sams report. Spencer might point out to ‘family of console’. Now you can guess the new Xbox will have hardware accompanying it.

Xbox had been extremely popular among gamers from over a decade. If Microsoft become successful in bringing out a more reliable and powerful gaming console will definitely tempt its user.

Microsoft’s Xbox has always given a tough competition by Sony’s PlayStation. The rivalry between two seems to increase in coming years. Ah Ahead of its launch, Xbox also improving its current version. It has launched some new games recently.
