Xiaomi in a launch event meant to launch Mi 8 also shed some lights on its new MIUI 10 android skin. This new version of the Android theme for Xiaomi phones is based on expanded full-screen support and a driving mode. The most talked feature addition is the new Portrait Mode for both dual and single-camera smartphones. This feature is already available on selfie cameras on Huawei, Pixel 2 and the iPhone X also. However, in rear-facing camera, the feature is usually restricted to dual-camera phones only. Now, let’s talk about newly added features:

The Chinese tech giant is also the leading smartphone seller company in India. The company is also improving its Recent menu that will now take advantage of the taller screen. Now users will get a vertical scrolling menu along with previous full-screen gestures. These gestures will be same as earlier that can be used to switch apps and close them. Now users will also get some other options while long pressing on any app in the recent menu. The user will get the option to either lock the app or shut it down.
Another new addition in the MIUI 10 will be the driving mode. This new feature will allow users to conduct voice commands using the Xiaomi’s AI voice assistant. This feature is expected to be only for the Chinese users. So it may not be launched globally for other users. Also, Xiaomi is claiming about the AI enhancements it made for the new version of MIUI.
Xiaomi also released a timeline about the distribution of MIUI 10 for China. According to the company, the first phones will get a preview in June. This preview will be followed by an expanded roll out in July.
