Google Chrome is a freeware web browser developed by Google. It was firstly released in September 2008 mainly for the Windows-based system. But later, owing to its good functionality it was also used for others OS also such as Linux, macOS, iOS and even for the Android. In Android, it is the official browsing app that comes pre-installed. Currently, it has over 1 billion downloads in the Google Play Store. In a survey by Star Counter, it estimates that Google Chrome has a 66% worldwide usage share of browsers on the desktop and over 50% usage share in smartphones.

Autoplay feature of Google Chrome:

For many years now, autoplaying video and audio on the web have been a constant source of frustration for users. There were various restrictions on autoplaying content in mobile browsers for years. This was partially due to the processing limitations of early smartphones. Also, these restrictions conserve mobile data usage. With the release of new version of Chrome late last month, Google also introduced new autoplay restrictions on both mobile and desktop Chrome.

While most users like the new change made by Google. But there are also plenty of valid criticism for Google’s new restrictions. This new policy will significantly affect the game developers. Many of the game developers think that their games will now break on Chrome. The developers’ criticism by developers is mostly focused on Google’s Media Engagement Index. This index helps Chrome to determine whether to allow the page to automatically play media. The index works on an algorithm that takes several factors into account. The algorithm takes into account how long media is consumed if the tab is active, and how large the video element is. After so much criticism for the new changes, Google now appears open to reversing the change or at least adapting it to fix web games.
