Nokia 8 starts receiving Android Oreo update

HMD global backed Nokia has kept its side of the promise. The company has updated its latest flagship smartphone to Android Oreo in no time. The company has started seeding the Android Oreo update with stock user interface with many intuitive features.

If you own a Nokia 8, then you can check the update for by heading towards setting and software update. If you are on the latest Android Nougat build, then, the software update is likely to measure around 1.5 GB, so, make sure that you connect your device to a faster WiFi to install the update. One should also have at least 3 GB of free space on the onboard flash storage.

Nokia 8 is one of the best flagship smartphone available in India. The smartphone is priced at ₹36,999 and available exclusively on Amazon India.

Looking at the tech-specifications, the Nokia 8 offers a premium 5.2-inch IPS LCD QHD+ IPS LCD screen, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass from Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by flagship class Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core Mobile Solution, paired with 4 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

In terms of connectivity, the device offers dual nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots. Other connectivity features like WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 are also supported.

Coming to the camera capability, the smartphone offers a Carl-Zeiss branded dual camera solution with a 13 MP RGB + 13 MP monochrome sensor with optical image stabilisation. For the selfie camera, the smartphone uses an 8 MP camera with 1080p video recording capability. The standard camera features like 4K video recording capability up to 30 frames per second. The main camera does offer portrait mode with #Bothie effect, which uses both front and the back camera at the same time (which can be used for live streaming as well).

The smartphone is equipped with a standard 3090 mAh Li-ion sealed battery with Qualcomm Quick charge 4.0 capability. The phone does offer newer USB type C port with USB OTG support. The phone does pack a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well.

If you want to feel nostalgia, then, Nokia 8 is the only smartphone which offers a premium design with top of the tier specifications. As a matter of fact, this is the only flagship smartphone with a well-known brand name, which is priced less than ₹40,000.
