HMD Global backed Nokia showing a lot of interest for the India market. The Nokia is extending the operation in the country by expanding the (R&D) Research and Development operations. The company is also developing the 5G Mobile technology. So, we can expect the faster 5G spread across India.

Presently, the company is working with the major internet providers like Bharti Airtel and BSNL to deploy the 5G technology. This would make sure that the best of the technology is served for the users and India will be the first countries to experience the 5G technology.

If we look at the 5G technology, this will be X10 faster than the actual 4G network. This means, the current 4G smartphone will go obsolete and even the flagship smartphones like the Apple iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will not support 5G network, as to deploy the 5G network, one needs new hardware and as of now, none of the smartphones offer the same.

Here is the official product statement from Rupa Santosh Nokia R&D Centre Head Bengaluru:

“We are increasing staffing at our R&D center in Bengaluru in 2018 to focus on next-generation technologies spanning 5G mobile network architecture, Voice over LTE (Long-Term Evolution or a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals), cloud and big data analytics. We are already doing collaborate research in 5G mobile network architecture with 14 industrial and academic partners in the European Union. We have also set up a dedicated 5G/IoT lab here to work on applications for smart cities and public safety, real-time city surveillance and smart parking. The Bengaluru research center will also allow Indian and global service providers to leverage our technology and develop capabilities for next-technologies,”

Even the Nokia has lost the charm with respect to smartphones, the brand still has a lot of value with respect to the patent and another license steps. So, Nokia is for sure to win this 5G battle.
