One Plus 5T

OnePlus brings out a new beta program for OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. This new open beta is supposed to be based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update for its current flagship phones. The user needs to subscribe to its Open Beta program.

OxygenOS Oreo 8.1 is the sixth update to the already existing beta program. The update brings some cool features to the already interesting smartphone. Coolest one, the Phone app gets an update that includes a new auto pickup gesture, which can allow the user to pick up the incoming call by the raising phone (such type of gestures were introduced by Samsung, since Galaxy S5).  They have also added more clock styles for ambient display.

The update also brings on board few minor changes. The company has made some optimizations for gaming mode with which might the company promises it’s users an immersive gaming experience. This basically turns off adaptive brightness, enables power saving and also blocks notifications.

There also have been minor changes in the notification bar and minor redesigns and changes in the gallery section. This new version also contains new ‘global roaming solution’ and the backup app data feature for those who use a smartphone other than OnePlus. Currently, this new beta is available for OnePlus 5 and 5T. It can be downloaded from the OnePlus website. Don’t forget to read the instructions carefully from the website itself. We’ll have wait till the update rolls out to 5/5T via OTA (Over-the-air) update. There is no word from OnePlus regarding the older phones’ 3/3T 8.1 updates as they are on Android 8.0 already.

Interestingly, this update also includes the security patch for February 2018 from Google.
