Google Lens

Google Lens feature was one of the main news of the Google I/O 2017. It is an integrated service in Assistant and recently it has also been added for Google Photos. The service shows the great potentialities of Google’s artificial intelligence. It automatically recognizes the objects that users frame through the camera of their smartphone. Currently, this functionality is exclusive only for Google Pixel devices and few others. But now it seems that the Google is widening the compatibility, starting with the latest OnePlus smartphones.

Now, OnePlus is bringing Google Lens functionality to Assistant on the OnePlus 3OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones. This feature was recently spotted by a Reddit user. Some other users have also reported seeing this feature on their OnePlus smartphones.

Whats next for Google Lens on OnePlus devices:

With the new update, the lens icon will now appear in the bottom corner of the Google Assistant. Tapping on the icon will open the camera. It will then allow users to tap items in the viewer for visual identification. Google will then try to identify the object and will then show the relevant search results and information. The feature is an early glimpse at the future of visual search. But it is not always that the functionality will work. Since its debut in last year Google has refined it to offer support for more search items. Users also expect that Google might add new features to it at I/O 2018 next week.
