Oppo China has launched a new smartphone referred as Oppo A83 in China. The smartphone is the most affordable of the lot that taunts 18:9 aspect ratio display with a bezel-less solution. The smartphone will be exclusively available in China from December 29th in Champagne Gold and Black Colour variants. For the first set of buyers, the smartphone maker is supplying a complementary QY7 Bluetooth headphones at no extra cost. This is the 6th Smartphone from Oppo with the new form factor of 18:9-aspect ratio display and the cheapest of the lot as well.

To begin with the elephant in the room, the smartphone offers a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen with narrow bezels and a new 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the resolution of this precise model has been downgraded to HD+ resolution compared to the FHD+ resolution on the Oppo F5 and Oppo F5 Youth. Considering the cut in the price tag, we are happy about the resolution. The Oppo A83 is powered by a MediaTek Octa-core processor with up to 2.5Ghz clock speed. This SoC is coupled with 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB onboard flash storage with a Hybrid SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

Like every other Oppo smartphone that has launched in 2017, the device also comes with a hybrid slot, which accepts either dual SIM cards or a micro SD and a SIM card. Both the slots do offer 4G LTE capability with Volte support on both the slots. So, the users are covered with most of the networks in China. However, do note that the device might not support global LTE bands.

Like the original Oppo F5, the smartphone offers a 13 MP main camera with 1080p video recording capability and an 8 MP selfie camera with beauty mode. So, The camera experience is expected to serve the purpose, so, one can expect to see good looking photos in the normal lighting and the smartphone might not be able to reproduce the same in low light conditions.

The smartphone runs on a custom version of Android Nougat 7.0 OS with Oppo’s own user interface. The company hasn’t shared any information about the future software updates what so ever. This phone does pack a cheaper version of Face ID called as facial recognition technology, which can unlock the smartphone in less than 0.18 seconds with 128 unique points.

Considering the specifications, the smartphone maker might launch the smartphone in India by the end of January 2018 with a similar price tag of ₹13,999 to go against the Honor 7x and Xiaomi Mi A1. So, what do you think about the Oppo A83? Share your views in the comment box regarding the same.
