Panasonic India has launched an upgraded version of Pansonic P77 India. Originally, the device just offered 8 GB flash memory, which is obsolete in 2017. So, the company has acted smart by withdrawing the original model and replacing it with the 16 GB variant.

The device is priced INR 5,299 and available exclusively on Flipkart.com. The device will be available either in white or grey colour option. The device features the plastic build quality that looks like the first generation Asus ZenFone. In terms of design, the device feels bit outdated, as most of the players in the smartphone territory offer excellent smartphones in the same range.

On to the tech specifications, the device features 5 inch HD IPS LCD screen with 296 ppi. The device is powered by 1 GHz Quad-core SoC, paired with 1 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB onboard storage with an SD card slot (up to 32 GB). On to the optics, the device features 8 MP rear-facing camera with 720p video recording capability and a 2 MP front facing camera meant for video calls and selfies. The device offers dual SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots (one slot at a time).

The device still runs on a two-year-old operating system (Android lollipop) 5.0 with a custom skin on the top. It makes it a bad note on the device, as few apps require latest operating system (at least Nougat) for the seamless experience. The 2000 mAh battery might last for a complete day for the moderate user.

Finally, to conclude, this is not the Android smartphone to purchase in 2017.

Here is the official statement fromĀ  Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India:

“Our association with Flipkart has always helped us to reach out to our customers. The upgraded version of P77 with 4G Technology and 16GB ROM available at Rs. 5299 is one of the most wallet friendly offers from Panasonic.”
