Panasonic India unveils a new entry-level Panasonic P9 smartphone in India. The device is priced at INR 6,290 available exclusively via offline retail stores.

The Panasonic P9 offers all plasticky design available either in Champagne Gold and Black paint variations. As a matter of fact, this is the first Panasonic device to offer “Quick Switch” and “Quick Reply“. The quick switch helps to shuffle between the most recently used application with the double tap on menu navigation key. Quick Reply is something that can be used to reply to the SMS/Email or even a Whatsapp conversation within the notifications panel. These features are not exclusive to Panasonic, in fact, these are the standard features unveiled along with the Android Nougat global launch. When the smartphone company that has nothing too extraordinary to offer plays gimmicks like these.

The device is powered by MediaTek MT6737M Quad-core SoC with 1.1 GHz clock speed paired with 1 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB onboard flash storage. The device does offer an additional SD card slot, which can accept micro SD cards up to 32 GB. The 5 inch IPS LCD display with 720p resolution is one of the highlights of the device.

On to the camera, the device is equipped with 8 MP primary rear-facing camera with F/2.0 aperture and 720p video recording capability backed by a single tone LED flash. The device also features a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera with a narrower F/2.4 aperture for wide angle selfie shots.

The Panasonic P9 offers dual SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability along with the support for WiFi, Bluetooth and WiFi hotspot. The device comes with 2210 mAh Li-ion (user accessible) battery.
