In Qualcomm 4G/5G summit, Qualcomm officially announces the next generation state of the art 5G modem. As a matter of fact, this is the first 5G model that has been publically unveiled till date. The X50 happens to offer top of the line performance when it comes to wireless data transmission.

According to Qualcomm, the X50 model can offer up to 1 Gbps data transfer speeds via 28GHz mmWave radio frequency band and advanced signal processing technologies. Along with this, the company also showcased a model 5G smartphone and how it might look in the near future.

According to the reference design, the device measured at 9 mm and used several 100 MHz 5G carriers and a data connection in 28 GHz mm spectrum. The company invested 12 months to showcase this demo in San Diago. The smartphones featuring 5G model might find their place in the market as early as the Q1 and 2018 and to make this as reality, the companies have to work hard by upgrading to the latest technology.

Here is the official statement from Cristiano Amon, executive vice president, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and president, Qualcomm technologies:

“Achieving the world’s first announced 5G data connection with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem chipset on 28GHz mmWave spectrum is truly a testament to Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in 5G and extensive expertise in mobile connectivity. This major milestone and our 5G smartphone reference design showcase how Qualcomm Technologies is driving 5G NR in mobile devices to enhance mobile broadband experiences for consumers around the world.”

What do you think about the 5G technology? Will it change the way of our internet usage by offering higher data speeds with uninterrupted signal coverage compared to the already existing technologies like 4G LTE and 3G? Finally, are you planning to buy a new smartphone which offers all these technologies? Time has to answer all these questions.
