Xiaomi India has announced a new Xiaomi Mi A1 in Blood red colour paint job.The new variant will be available from 20th December via Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Preferred partners, and Mi Homes. As a part of the ongoing sale, the smartphone will be made available for just ₹12,999, which is a thousand rupees less than the original price tag.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 has very distinctive feature compared to the other Xiaomi smartphones that are launched in India. In fact, the smartphone is a re-engineered version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in all aspects. We would like to give 7 reasons to choose the Xiaomi Mi A1 over the other premium mid-tier smartphones.

  • Price: Yes, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is not the cheapest smartphone in the market with these specifications, however, it’s a perfect smartphone with an interesting set of specifications.
  • Android One Programme: The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the only smartphone that is available in India under Android One programme. This programme will make sure that the smartphone will receive latest software updates and security updates as soon as Google releases the same.
  • Design: The full metal unibody design offers a lot of improvement over the competition, in fact, the metal unibody is in line with the other flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 5 and the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
  • Main camera setup: The smartphone is packed with a dual rear-facing camera with 12 MP wide-angle shooter and a 12 MP telephoto lens. The phone offers X2 optical zoom, 4k video recording capability and portrait mode with bokeh effect.
  • Main speaker: This is probably, the loudest speaker that we have seen on a mid-tier smartphone. Though it has a mono speaker, the sound produced by the device offers clarity and loudness even in the higher volume.
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack: This phone not only have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, but the phone does offer a dedicated Hi-Fi DAC, which can offer the best audio experience via 3.5 mm headphone jack.
  • USB type C port: This is one of the cheapest smartphones that comes equipped with a USB type C port, though it does not support fast charging, the USB type C port will offer faster data transfer rates.

Here are few reasons not to consider the Xiaomi Mi A1:

  • Xiaomi Mi A1 is equipped with a 3030 mAh Li-ion battery, though it is good enough for a day of usage for the most of the people, the battery might not be lost for a complete day on 4G network, also note that the smartphone does not support fast charging.
  • The 1080p IPS LCD screen is great with a 5.5-inch panel. However, at this time of the year smartphone manufacturers are using an 18:9 aspect ratio display and this smartphone come with a 16:9 aspect ratio display. So, the big chunky bezels are not so 2017 and this phone has those.

If you are ok with these shortcomings, then Xiaomi Mi A1 is a great smartphone. What do you think about the Xiaomi Mi A1 with the Red colour paint job? Share your views in the comment box.
