Happy new year folks, the first news that we are covering in this year is about the most awaited smartphone of the year, AKA, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Last year, the company had launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 at this time of the year, which became a phenomenal success for the brand. So, this time the expectation from the fan base will be high and to cater it properly the Chinese smartphone maker is taking its time.

If the leaks and rumours are to be believed, then the smartphone maker is waiting for a new chipset AKA the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Octa-core mobile solution, this processor will be similar to that of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 with slightly downgraded clock speed and a tad slower GPU. The company will be able to get better performance using this processor, compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. This processor will be paired with either 3 GB or 4 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 32 GB or 64 GB onboard flash storage with a micro SD card slot (up to 256 GB).

In terms of looks and aesthetics, the smartphone will continue to use full metal unibody design with improved built quality over the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. In fact, the smartphone we might expect similar design as that of the Xiaomi Mi A1 with flushed antenna bands for the premium looks and faster heat dissipation.

As we have already seen the 18:9 aspect ratio display on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, the same applies here. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will feature 5.9-inch IPS LCD display with on-screen navigation keys and a narrow bezel-less solution. This display will be protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass on the top for the additional protection. As this processor has not yet gone official, this is halting the launch of the smartphone.

In terms of camera capability, the smartphone is likely to feature a dual rear-camera setup like the one found on the Xiaomi Mi A1 with improved image capturing capability. For the selfie camera, the smartphone is likely to feature an 8 MP selfie camera with a front-facing flash for the low light photography.

Like 99 percent of the Xiaomi smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be powered by MiUi 9 based on Android Oreo (considering the fact that the device will be launched in Q2 of 2018). The MiUi 9 offers a lot of customisation options compared to the stock Android OS with the ability to install third-party themes and changing icon packs.

Finally, coming to the pricing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will the costliest Redmi Note smartphone from the company (period). The entry-level model is likely to go on sale for ₹14,000 for the 3 GB RAM version and ₹16,000 for the 4 GB RAM version.

So, what do you think about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the speculated features? Share your views in the comment box regarding the same.
