Earlier toady, Samsung launched two mid-range smartphones in India. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 pro. These devices are the successors for the 2016 models with upgraded built quality, newer hardware and latest operating system. The Galaxy J7 Max costs INR 17,900 and Galaxy J7 Pro costs 20,900. Devices will be available from both online and offline stores from next week.

Samsung’s new take on card-less payments for non NFC devices is Samsung pay mini, which utilises online wallets like Paytm and Mobiquick, J7 Max is the first device to offer this feature in India. The J7 pro does offer Samsung Pay (NFC) with ability to add debit and credit card without any hassle.

To start with the most affordable of the two, the Galaxy J7 Max features mammoth 5.7 inch screen with 1080p resolution, instead of Samsung’s Super AMOLED screen the device uses old TFT panel with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Breaking the stereotype, the Galaxy J7 Max is powered by MTK 8 core SoC, instead of Exynos. In terms of RAM the device offers 4 GB LPDDR3 option with 32 GB onboard storage along with external SD card support (Hybrid SIM slot SIM+SIM or SIM+SD).

The handset is fitted with 13 MP sensor on both the sides, with equivalent LED twin flash as well. In terms of software, the device offers built in face masks like Snapchat and Instagram (Social Skill). The main camera does lacks 4K recording and OIS, so one should have steady hands to get good pictures. The 3300  li-ion non-user replaceable battery does supports quick charging via micro USB. The device runs on latest version of Android Nougat with custom Touch Wiz UI.

The Galaxy J7 Pro, offer smaller 5.5 inch screen with 1080p panel. Unlike J7 max, the device offers superior Super AMOLED over TFT. Once again Exynos 8 core SoC resurfaces with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. This device also has an SD card expandability option upto 256 GB (non Hybrid slot).

The 13 MP rear and front facing sensors with LED flash assistance does offer 1080p video recording with PDAF and tap to focus. The battery gets bigger by 300 mAh, (3600 mAh), so smaller screen, OLED and bigger battery means more screen on time. The Android Nougat with custom UI is the answer for the operating system.
