Samsung has finally unveiled much-speculated non-flagship smartphone with the dual rear-camera setup in Thailand. The Galaxy J+ has similar design language as of the current Galaxy J series. This is the first non-Note series smartphone to offer the dual rear-camera.

The Samsung Galaxy J7+ is powered by MediaTek Helio P20 Octa-core SoC, paired with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB onboard storage. For the additional storage seekers, the device does offer an SD card slot with up to 256 GB expandability. Following the tradition, the device comes with 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD panel protected by 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass.

The device also offers Samsung’s always on functionality, which displays the time and the notification (by just turning on few LED).

On to the camera, recent mid-tier smartphones from Samsung offers top class optics. Even the Samsung Galaxy J7+ does offer similar features at an affordable price tag. The 13 MP rear-facing camera does offer superior camera clarity even in the low lightening condition due to its larger F/1.7 aperture which allows more light to pass through the sensor. The combination of 5 MP camera with F/1.9 aperture does help to capture portrait images ( images with varied depth of field).

The 16 MP front-facing camera with F/1.9 aperture paired with its own single tone LED flash can also take some great photographs. The 3600 mAh battery is expected to last at least for a complete working day with a single charge. The device does support rapid charging via bundled charger and data cable.

Currently, the device is only available in Thailand for THB 12,900 or INR 24,900. The device does offer premium flagship class features like full-metal unibody and dual rear camera setup, however, for the price tag of INR 24,900 there are greater options available in the markets like India China.

Samsung has done a great job with the smartphone. However, if they want to offer this device is China or India their pricing strategy should be rescaled. As the sales of the great smartphone should not be affected by its adverse pricing strategy.
