Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+ share same hardware (for the most part) and similar software experience as well as a similar design language. If you are confused between these two devices here are the few features that act as deal breaker out of this two smartphones.

Design: From the design aspects, the device looks similar both externally as well as internally. However, the Galaxy S8+ offers more rounded edges and looks curvier making it a youthful design. The Galaxy Note 8 does offer same rounded off corners but the device looks like a rectangle from a distance, makes it more appealing to the business personnel and officials. Both devices offer unique glass-metal build with features like water proofing, wireless charging and NFC.

Software: One can say that both devices offer the customised version of Android Nougat, however, it’s just the beginning of the actual software. The Note offers many additional features like taking notes on a locked screen using S-Pen and other business oriented features. Both Galaxy’s are expected to receive Android Oreo update by the end of 2017.

Display: Empirically both devices feature dual curved QHD AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. However, the Galaxy Note 8 offers big 6.3-inch display compared to slightly smaller 6.2-inch display (including curved edges). Both devices will offer sophisticated multimedia viewing experience and offers punchier colours.

Processor and RAM: Both devices are powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8890 (depending on the market). The Galaxy S8+ comes with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM, whereas the Galaxy Note 8 offers 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM. Both devices offer 64 GB onboard storage and an option to expand memory via micro SD card up to 256 GB.

Camera: Camera on the Galaxy Note 8 is a real deal breaker. The device now offers dual rear camera setup (12 MP + 12 MP) rear-facing camera with dedicated OIS on either of the sensors. The camera can take photos with a varied depth of field and thanks to its secondary telephoto sensor, the device can capture photographs with upto X2 optical zoom. The Galaxy S8+ comes with a mono sensor 12 MP camera that can do capture 4K videos and 720p slow motion videos just like the Note 8 does it.

Pricing: The device Galaxy S8+ is now available for 64,000 in India. The Note 8 is expected to launch in India by September 2nd week with the price tag of INR 75,000 or above. If you are looking a smartphone with premium camera capabilities, then wait for Galaxy Note 8, otherwise, go with the Galaxy S8+ as its one and the same except the camera.
