Samsung is all set to launch a new flagship series Samsung W2018 in its home country Korea, the Samsung W2018 will be the successor of the Samsung W2017, with the flagship class specifications and flagship class price point. As the name suggests, this will be a flip smartphone with all the top of the tier specifications and a premium specifications.

The phone features a T9 keypad with a 4 axial navigation key with android navigations buttons as well. So that, one can use with either touch input or via hardware navigation. In terms of operating system, the device is expected to be powered by Android Nougat 7.1.2 with custom Samsung UXI on the top, however, the device is likely to receive Oreo update in the near future.

The device will be unveiled at an event held in Korea on December 1st, 2017. The smartphone is expected to feature a dual touch screen panel with a screen size of 4.5-inch on both the sides, manufactured using AMOLED technology for the higher contrast and punchier colours. The company is also most likely to include a Bixby button, just like their other flagship smartphones.

Coming to the actual tech specifications, the smartphone is expected to be powered by the top of the tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core SoC, paired with 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 256 GB). The two displays on the phone are expected to have a native resolution of 720p with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.0 protection on both the sides.

In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is likely to offer dual nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLte capability on both the slots. Other standard connectivity features like dual channel WiFi, NFC, WiFi Hotspot, and Bluetooth 5.0 are also supported out of the box.

For the camera enthusiasts, the smartphone uses an all-new 12 MP rear-facing camera with an unprecedented F/1.5 aperture for the first time in the smartphone camera. The camera should also offer OIS with 4K video recording capability. Due to the larger pixel size, the camera should be able to capture tiniest details even in low lighting condition. For the selfie camera, the company might use a 5 MP shooter with the same F/1.5 aperture for the brighter and crispier selfies. The company might also continue to use the heart rate sensor and a fingerprint scanner near the camera module.

The Samsung W2018 is expected to feature a 2700 mAh sealed Li-ion battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port. However, the phone is most likely to miss on the features like IP68 water and dust resistance.
