On Thursday, Tech giant Samsung started with the production of smartwatches in India at its Noida facility as part of its “Make in India” efforts. The company has the largest facility of manufacturing smartphone at Noida. The South Korean company has also launched a new 4G-enabled smartwatch which has been priced at Rs 28,490 which will be manufactured locally in the company.

Mohandeep Singh, who is the Samsung India Senior Vice President, Mobile Business has stated that this would be the first smartwatch that will be made in India.

In the section of the most affordable 4G watch, we have the Aluminium edition of Galaxy Watch Active2 4G. The company has also started manufacturing the total range of 18 different smartwatches.

However, the company has not revealed the investment or the manufacturing capacity for these devices.
An announcement was made in the month of June 2017, regarding the investment of Rs 4,915 crore to double its manufacturing capacity for the smartphones and refrigerators at its Noida (Uttar Pradesh) plant. In the year 2018, the company stated that it will double its annual handset production capacity to around 120 million units by the year 2020 from the plant at Noida.

The statement said that there are three different sizes (42mm, 44mm, and 46mm) of Galaxy Watch Active2 4G Aluminium edition and two unique design templates (elegant classic and modern minimalistic). The price of 18 smartwatches being made in India is between Rs 19,990-35,990.

The customers also get e-SIM connectivity with Galaxy Watch Active2 4G which helps users stay connected for calls, messages, and notifications. This will be available from July 11 onwards across retail stores and online portals.
